Ever since the release of the movie, every second person I met recommended me this movie. So, I finally went to watch 3 Idiots, to be disappointed. Its highly overrated.
The idea around which it was based was good, but most of the things being exaggerated.
The movie starts off in the plane where Farhan fakes a heart attack to get off the plane. Exactly why did he have to be shown in a plane, he could have gotten the phone call anywhere. This was the first exaggeration.
Then came the bet: too much drama. When does it actually happen?
The situation as shown in Raju's house was sorry but was made fun of. To show his mother scratching his father with the same belan as she used to make rotis was mean and not required at all. It was gross!
Too many suicides. The main motive of the movie was to make the audiences understand the pressure of performing well, which was easily understood by one such instance, but three? When does one come across 3 such cases in the span of 4 years of their college life?
Exactly how clichéd was it to show that the protagonists take the camera up to the fellow's window to see him hanging by the fan? It was too obvious.
Pia was shown just as an eye candy,getting into chiffons at just the right times, and was not really required.
Then came in the factor of Rancho not being Ranchodas Shyamaldas Chanchad. Just to show how big a guy from a small household could become, the factor of fraud was brought in. It could have been shown in a better manner without getting into the circuit of forgery.
And of course, Mona and her delivery was just the icing on the cake. It was too much. Not only do engineering students conduct a successful delivery, they save the baby, by saying Aal izz well. That was totally wild, unrealistic and overly exaggerated. It was not required. We could have done without it as well.
Rajkumar Hirani created a catch-point in Aal Izz Well as he did before in Jaddu ki Jhappi and Gandhigiri.
The film was good in parts but the whole thing failed to blow me away. There were too many loop holes and too many clichés. It could have been more dignified and well made.

ReplyDeleteabt the plane thing.... they jst showed a situation... to show how madhavan feels for rancho... n wat all he can do to meet him having lost him for 10 yrs... without a situation .. it would have been lame...
the bet... it happened the nite when rancho altrs chaturs speech....which is apparently shown in the movie later... :-P .. so whats d prob really?? its just a bet...
the belan thing was gross... but the situation was deliberately shown funny... just to not make ppl like u say the movie was too serious...
3 suicides... u know it was done to make ppl understand... indian public takes time to get stuff into its head babe... 1 wouldnt have done... and anyways u have tons of them happening in top engg colleges.... n its a fact...
n u NEED an eye candy in the movie.... :-P ..
the ranchhordas issue.... alrite... suggest a situation without forgery.. see ... again... if u go abt showing stuff randomly... u just cant make a movie.. u need situations gal... the movie would have been too predictable otherwise... n then again u would have had a problem...
saving the child with just 'aal izz well' was lame .. but what they intended showing in the delivery was how an engineering mind can come up with solutions in such situations which no1 else can...
all in all.... the movie was rough rarely...2 THUMBS UP for it...n the perfect way to make the general public understand the pressures that an engineering student goes thru in 4 yrs... i can say that 1 n a half yrs into it...

ReplyDelete1.the first exaggeration u talked about..madhvan getting off the flight..well it was nothing but just to show the great bonding and brotherhood among the 3 frends,that it made madhvan go to such an extent of cancelling his trip and stopping the flight even after take off...i m sure u would do d same if u get the news of ur long lost frend because of whom u are wat u are(wildlyf fotographer,in this context) and whu helped u numerous tymes in colleg and has suspiciously disappeared many years back..
2.the bet..well..creatures lyk chatur and rancho do exist in engineering colleges..such obnoxious humiliation of the director,that 2 in total oblivion,by chatur and dat scolding by the director in front of whole college made him drunk and so he made dat bet to rancho,out of frustration and lets-c-whu-wins-next attitude..it was quite real
3.belan scene was just to emphasize on the miserable plight of raju's family..dat they are so poor that they hav to eat even that..c'mom divya..which movie doesnt hav is much exaggeration..
4.ahem..well the suicide scene was awesome..c'mon..this happens in all hindi movies..u bang the doors,,open the windows and suddenly find the body of the guy hanging from the fan..but hirani did it differently and with class..first he made rancho build dat helicopter..den he wanted to give that a surprise(out of emotion,superb!) and bang..he sees his body in the helicopters camera..i mean kya yaaar???it was an awesome scene..superb..i bet if u made a movie..i never even would hav thot about showing a suicide lyk dis..
5.pia..well..a gal was required to show the pregnancy thing..to teach the director a lesson by telling him dat his son committed suicide(who better than his daughter?)..and to create the love angle in the movie 2..well if u dont lyk love angles..stop cing srk movies:P
6.rancho--fraud thing..well pls suggest a better way to show it,,m waiting
7.well..the pregnancy scene was amazing..it showed aamir's cool head and his crystal clear engg concepts that made him create the electricity and deliver baby wid a vacuum cleaner..and pia was dere to guide him..wat did she say in the beginnig?"jab hospitals nai hote the,to bache ghar mein hi paid hote the"..so??wats wrong with dat scene?
8.well..for a change..i agree the scene of all izz well bringing lyf to ababy was 2 much..bt hey..tell me 1 movie..1..which doesnt have ane illogicl things in it..

ReplyDeletebut making a point here..ur ragging scenes and suicides actually made a huge impact..so much so that in the past 72 hrs 3 students in a mumbai college attempted suicide and 18 students were arrested for enacting the same ragging scene as 3 idiots..thats hell lot of an impact on peoples minds..
and another loop hole in the story: the director of the college is shown so strict..yet the ragging scene in the college is absolutely out of control..the director manages everything yet he manages to give ragging a miss..awesome story guys!!
that happens in the hostel madam..there r no teachers in the hostel..until and unless the first years go nd complain,nobody even has the slightest hint wats going on in the hostels..bribing the guards is helpful,if u manage to do dat
